SNOWSHOEING IN THE NORTH CASCADES

When: November-March  9:30am-4:30pm*
Price: $179 adult, $89.50 child (10 & under)

*times set to accommodate the Amtrak Cascades train schedule from Vancouver and Seattle

In late Fall, the North Cascades begin their transformation into a Winter Wonderland!  Mountain peaks, alpine meadows and forests become blanketed in white by the first snow storms of the approaching Winter.  This is the time to get the snowshoes out from hibernation!

Snowshoeing areas are within a 2-hr drive and getting there is half the enjoyment! Whether we drive up the Mount Baker or the North Cascades Loop Highway, the Winter scenery of the PNW will soon mesmerize you. Views along the Skagit and Nooksack Rivers dressed in white are also beautiful.

Stunned by the beautiful scenery at our destination? Let’s get those snowshoes on and lets go! First time snowshoeing? Great, you’ll get our quick Snowshoeing 101 lesson, a little practice and off we go!  Before you know it, the Winter Wonderland of the North Cascades will have enveloped you with its beauty, its serenity, its solitude, its wildness. Stop. Listen. Look around you. Admire it all! Did we mention you’ll be getting a workout too? Your hiking level, enthusiasm, timing and weather will dictate our route and time out on the trail.

Mountain weather is notorious for changing quickly, going from a bright sunny day to a windy white out. We keep a close eye on the forecast; in some cases, we may have to re-schedule your Adventure, so it’s best to make yourself available for a couple of days. Location for your Snowshoeing in the North Cascades Adventure will be determined by the weather forecast.

Always bring warm (synthetic/merino wool/down) layers, gloves and hat as well as full rain gear (jacket and pants) in your backpack. Sunglasses are a good idea.

Snowshoes are provided; however, we have a limited supply of sizes. Please contact us to reserve yours. We recommend using snowboard boots to keep your feet extra dry (as our Guide does). They can be rented at the Mount Baker Ski Area Lodge for an additional fee ($14-19).

Testimonials

Stephanie was a wonderful guide, pointing out at every turn the smaller wonders that were a part of the much larger, beautiful landscape. She welcomed my enthusiasm and made me feel at home in a place that I had never been. The trip exceeded my expectations (which were high to begin with) and I would do it again in a second if I could! Thanks Stephanie/Skagit Guided Adventures! Amanda, NY
