Mother Nature gifted us a beautiful day in the San Juan Islands for our Birding Cruise to Vendovi Island.
We were glad to spot all three alcids we'd hoped for β Marbled Murrelets, Rhinoceros Auklets, and Pigeon Guillemots β along with the regulars: gulls, cormorants, eagles, and oystercatchers. Seals were out in good numbers too, resting on the rocky islands.
Once ashore, we enjoyed plenty of forest birds, both seen and heard, while exploring the island.
We also had some extra reasons to celebrate β among our group was a couple celebrating their recent proposal, and Mary celebrated her birthday too!
Every twist of the trail brings a new wonder! From towering old-growth trees to lush land and sea plants, and bursts of wildflowers in every color imaginable β our PNW rainforest never stops surprising the ACL folks on their Anacortes Hiking Adventure. Nature's magic is real, and they're living it!
