ANACORTES HISTORY TOUR
Anacortes is a small and thriving seaside community holding a rich history dating back to times immemorial. It sits on Fidalgo Island, at the edge of the Salish Sea, in NW Washington.
Whether you are driving thru to catch the ferry to the San Juan Islands or staying to enjoy its many outdoor and indoor activities, join the 2-hour Anacortes History Tour to learn about its native peoples, European exploration, founding, “boom and bust” eras, as well as its current industries and “ways of life”.
During the 2 hours, we’ll stroll the Historical Downtown area looking at its old buildings and learning about their history. Murals, painted by our local artist Bill Mitchell, will come alive as they tell their stories. Other stops include the Train Depot, sites once occupied by “era industries”, the shipyard, the marina, the fishing fleet and the Cap Sante lookout.
