Established in 1968, it encompasses 504,781 acres (2,042.78 km2) of pristine mountains, glaciers, valleys, temperate old-growth forest, rivers and turquoise-colored lakes.
Travel 78 mi alongside the life-giving Skagit River to Diablo Lake, nestled in the heart of the North 
Cascades. Feel the wilderness surrounding you: the majestic mountain peaks, evergreen PNW temperate rainforest and turquoise lakes.
The North Cascades National Park Day Tour Itinerary includes stops at: Skagit River, National Park Visitor Center, Gorge Creek Falls and Lookout, Diablo Lake Lookout, an easy hike on the Thunder Creek Trail (weather permitting), and a drive over Diablo Dam.
An optional boat tour (at an additional cost) is available July through September.
